Have you ever gone to have your car inspected or have the routine maintenance done? Every day leading up, you are dreading it more and more because you KNOW deep down inside that you’re going to hear things that you do not want to hear about your car. Truth is, you haven’t been taking care of your car the way that you should and it’s time for all of that to be revealed at the car shop. I know, you just became too busy to keep up with all of the necessary requirements for your car and life just got in the way right? Well now, you have to make time and more money to make up for lost time with your car.
The same inspection that we have for our cars, we need for our souls as well. We become so caught up and lost in the daily woos of life that we forget to take care of ourselves. Forgetting about ourselves starts with the casual “I’m too busy” and “There’s just too much going on right now”. Down the line, it becomes the norm to put others before yourself and you slowly but surely become the YES gal! When you say yes to others, you are saying NO to yourself and what sets your soul on fire. It’s about time that we start saying YES to ourselves and what sets our souls on FIRE!
Do you have a favorite hobby? Or maybe more than one favorite hobby? Did any of your hobbies turn into passions? A hobby turned passion is quite possibly the best thing in the world! How great is it to be doing something that you love? You never work a day in your life.
Doing what you love is therapy for the soul. It sounds silly but it REALLY is. I’ve been going through a very rough patch over the past month and I’ve been diving into my hobbies that turned passions to keep my head afloat. I don’t know when this storm will pass or how but I know that my hobbies turned passions will be there with me through it all.
Life will hit each and every one of us pretty hard, whether in your younger, middle or older years, it will HURT. It’s so important to nourish yourself through difficult times. Self-care, I have found, has allowed me to hold my head high and accept what comes during this journey, with grace.
