Life is sweeter undistracted

When was the last time you got distracted? If you’re honest, it was probably today. Maybe even a few minutes ago. Maybe even reading this post is a distraction! [But please keep reading!]

It’s so easy to be focused on minute and distracted by something or someone the next! There is so much going on in the world that it’s tough to stay focused on just one thing at a time.

You can BE distracted and you can FEEL distracted…both states keep you away from your goals in life!

Multi-taskers get distracted easily. And as much as I suggest staying away from multi-tasking, it is kind of a must when you’re a mom. Which means moms get distracted easily. Bummer!

You’re making dinner and your son needs help with homework…distraction.

You’re about to take a shower and the kids ask for a snack…distraction.

You’re on your way to bed and your husband needs clothes ironed…distraction.

You’re about to write a blog post and the phone rings…distraction.

You’re in the middle of a new project and your social media pings…distraction.

There are so many ways we are distracted throughout the day. As moms we have tons of distractions! Add in our business, husbands, home…things can get a little cray cray!

If we’re not careful, distractions can totally take over our plans, purpose, and life!

How do we stop being so distracted?

Let’s back up for a minute and get real with ourselves.

I want you to become aware of what distracts you on a daily basis. Write down all the things that distract you. What comes up? What notifications go off? Who needs you? When are you the most busy?

Becoming aware of them is the first step to eliminating them or at least diffusing them when they come up.

Getting to know what pulls you away from your daily tasks is a great way to stop getting distracted so easily.

Once you know the things that distract you, you can create a better plan to stop them. Time management is HUGE! A lot of my clients struggle with time management because they are trying to use a strategy that might not work the best for them. You can download my free time evaluation to help you get started. It’s super important to do things according to YOU. What works for me might not work for you. Find out your sweet spot and schedule your life…with some flexibility!

You are a mom. Things will happen. Distractions come up. You get interrupted. Mindset is another key part of eliminating distractions.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, it’s ok to get off track as long as you get back on!

When something doesn’t go as planned, it’s easy to start beating yourself up. Just don’t! Be kind to yourself and know that nothing is perfect.

Now that you have your list of daily distractions, think about how they apply to the bigger picture. Are you behind on your goals? Are you frustrated because you don’t things done sometimes? Are you constantly starting over because you get side tracked and forget?

If we can’t stay focused to do a load of laundry, how the heck can we stay focused on our goals and dreams?

It’s time to be honest with yourself and decide what’s really important. Know your values. Know your strengths. Know your goals.

Be so committed to your happiness that as soon as you get distracted you are able to stop, breathe, and refocus!

Life is sweet, beautiful, and amazing! Don’t miss out because you are constantly getting off track. Remember these basic steps and create your new plan!

  1. Be aware of your distractions
  2. Create a schedule and manage your time
  3. Have a positive mindset
  4. Know your goals
  5. Don’t give up!

We’re moms. We’re entrepreneurs. Our time is precious and distractions can really pull us away from our desired life if let it! So don’t let it! 🙂

Keep being amazing!
